Tony could stay in Dallas…for now.
There are a couple moving parts to Tony Romo’s situation.
Tony Romo wants to start for whatever team he goes to from Dallas. He could sit on the bench in Dallas just as well as any other place. Plus, after living in Dallas for over a decade, Romo has some roots in Dallas. Finally, everyone knows the Star’s shine tarnishes if the player retires from a different team.
Tony Romo wants to play for a contender. One preferably with a solid offensive line and a couple decent receivers. Play for Cleveland, get sacked a record number of times, possibly another concussion, or ride it out in Dallas. Hmmm…business decision time.
The Cowboys want something in return for Romo. The first priority for Dallas is to shed Romo’s cap hit. Second, if they could get a little something in return that’d be a double bonus.
Thinking back to last year, or any year, there always seems to be a contender, last year Minnesota, whose quarterback finds himself on injured reserve.
Enter Tony Romo.
Unlike some other professional teams *cough* NY Knicks, the Cowboys seems to fair with their players. Romo want to play for a contender, and the Cowboys want the best deal.
Why not let the preseason play out and see what happens? Romo could end up throwing the Super Bowl winning touchdown to Jordy Nelson.
