NFL Draft Board Breakdown

The NFL Draft Board.

Luke Falk appears on the 2018 NFL Draft Board by making it onto Draft Utopia’s mock draft. Chris Ransom, of Draft Utopia, projects the Minnesota Vikings drafting Luke Falk. Ransom sees the Minnesota Vikings drafting with pick number nine in the 2018 NFL draft.

In Draft Utopia’s mock draft, Falk comes behind USC’s Sam Darnold, UCLA’s Josh Rosen, and Louisville’s Heisman Trophy Award winner, Lamar Jackson.

On the NFL Draft Board, Falk comes behind the other three, plus Josh Allen and Jake Browning.

That makes Falk the sixth quarterback on the NFL Draft Board. Falk is the 16th 2018 NFL draft prospect on the board.

Darnold and Rosen solidified their top spots with their collegiate performance already. If their seasons progress as projected, they will go one, two. However, from Josh Allen down to Jake Falk four quarterbacks are fighting to see who gets drafted after the top two.

The Air Raid Offense

Falk’s, 6-4 203 pound frame fits the NFL quarterback ideal. However, like Pat Mahomes from 2017, he plays in a college system that fails to translate directly to the NFL. Mahomes, of Texas Tech, played for Kliff Kingsbury who played for Washington State head coach, Mike Leach.

Falk and Mahomes basically played under the same Air Raid Offense created by Mike Leach. Mike Leach’s spread offense produced record setting college quarterbacks, and first round draft choices.

But, Leach produced mostly quarterback busts in the NFL going back to when Leach served as offensive coordinator for Tim Couch at Kentucky.

If Falk breaks through the Mike Leach stigma, and Mahomes produces in his rookie year, Falk could easily go in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft.
